I can cut some of the suspense and tell you what he's probably going to tell you: "Drop the straps, get a road biek, clipless, and start racing." Or is that just what I say? It has crossed my mind to just go back to riding the road bike and all, but eh... And of course it is something only you advise, but I don't race nor do I feel fit to compete.

Josh, I would say forgo the clips and straps and get a pair of shimano spd or time atac pedals and some mountain or new chrome spd shoes.
either that or if you still want clips and straps... don't waste your money on any other doublestraps than toshi or mks alpha-a. everything else is just bullshit. as for plastic clips, i just used whatever $10 mtb clips (more durable) i could find. i had the all city ones, but they don't work with vans very well. pedals are all subjective and depend on the size of your foot. i dislike "track" pedals because i have wide feet and my powwa legz put a lot of weight on my feet and the pedals dig into the bottom. i have gr-9s now for when i feel like using clips and straps, but i still don't like them that much. i kinda wanted to try the mks touring pedals with a platform modification.

I had thought about that, but I don't know. I don't have much knowledge about those things.
I have found some MKS Max-K pedals, but I will take into consideration Toshi or MKS Alpha-A pedals. Gizmo offered selling me his All City, but since you mention the fact that they do not go well with Vans, than I am limited. I don't really wear leather, so I wear Vans or All Star shoes. I wear a size 11 shoe in Vans. Those pedals you mentioned seem pretty nice.

Rabbi, do you use doubles on the gr-9? I would like to do that in the future. Something about longer bolts.

Raycecar, I find the all city clips to be a bit too tall around the toe box when I'm riding in eras. I'm sure in my chrome shoes they'd fit better, but I ride in clips&straps maybe 5 times a year.
Gizmo, Yeah, I have some 5 year old mks alpha-a straps on the gr9s. I have homemade doubleizers on the inside and custom L-brackets underneath holding the straps.

I think that's a good series of videos on wheel building although I don't think it puts enough emphasis on stress/dish of the wheel. Suppose you build up the wheel you can bring it to an LBS for final touches I guess? I've been wanting to try this as well with my friend's stripped wheels just to see if I can do it but I don't know how to correctly de-tension. I already have a warped rim just chilling in my room....

Still on the search for rim and other shit. Do you happen to know what spokes I would need for a godspeed hub to open pro?
Also, still have that tire for sale...?
