Rabbi, what are your thoughts on low pro or pursuit bikes? I hear many of the new types ride just like any other bike, but the more legit bicycles are not meant for road riding.

yeah, newer "pursuit" bikes just really have an extended seattube with pretty standard "track" geometry. you're paying for the look. just ride your kilo, man. anything else is just spending money for a name unless you're racing on the thing.

depends on the bike, how it's set up, and what model you go with. i wouldn't call brooks hipster shit, but maybe touring shit. and they're not overpriced for the quality you get with the saddles. i will be getting a brooks for the next bike i'm building.

I'd like to rudely intervene here since I ride one. Fuck the hipster shit. Over a hundred years of tradition don't lie. Its comfy at first.. But it gets better after a few months of riding. It's so durable. I recommend the titanium rails if you don't wanna put 650 grams on your bike.

and brian, for the saddle you have, you really need that nose pointed up and your bars higher. your nose was pointed down. lower the saddle and flatten it out.

I agree it is super difficult to gauge colors on line. Shop selections are usaly limited to top sellers for good reason. |

Dear Rabbi:
I got new soma double straps.
I went to put them on but when I put them on in the conventional manner (straps under through the pedals first, then around the top through the cages, then out and down through the locking mechanism, the logo is upside down (which is fine but suggests that they were intended to go the other way). It is also pretty tight where the main piece of leather splits into two. The main piece is really straddling the pedals pretty hard.
If I were to put them through so that the logo faces up, with the straps going through the cages first then down and around through the pedals this creates an awkward straps dangling straight up effect.
What do?
