Dear, Rabbi
I know a little bit about Clincher and tubular wheels, but I wonder if using a tubular wheel is not such a great idea on the street. as creepy as this may sound, I stumbled upon your facebook page and saw that you had torn into your rear tire while racing or after racing. you mentioned it was a tubular tire and it surprisingly stayed on. would just like some knowledge on that.
Sincerely, Joshua.

Aren't tubular wheels hard to put on? because of the whole glue thing?

Nathan recommends tubulars for street riding/commuting because they're easy to install, easy to repair flats, and a wee bit cheaper. He recommends clinchers for racing because they roll faster, although they are a bit harder to use (gluing on the rims, etc.). Clinchers also give an amazing feel on the bike that you can't get from tubulars, says Nathan.

Deer Rabbi,
How typical is it for a larger frame road bicycle to have 650c sized wheels? Could it be the age of bicycle or maybe the use of it, Like TT/Tri's?

Now a days, unless its a touring or rando bike, this is quite uncommon. Although it was done in the past. Austins father has a c dale that is like a 62cm frame with 650.

I like how this thread has a different title.
Anyway, Rabbi I know you own a few Selle Italia Flite's and was wondering if you use anything to prevent your saddle rubbing on to your shorts/ pants? I read Sheldon's opinion on what to use on leather saddles, but would like a second opinion.

Do you use anything on your saddle so the leather doesn't rub and ruin pants?

That doesn't happen. If you leather is preferated you might get a lil wear, otherwise nothing. All, or atleast most, quality saddles are leather.

If you ride your bike in non-bike clothes, you're gonna wear through them. That's just the name of the game. Get some swrve shorts or jeans in the swrve group buy. My last pair of shorts is still going 2+ years strong.

ayo rabbi.
why do dave's and my crank arm bolts always come loose on our polo bikes. it happens every night, and it always happens on the non drive crank arm.
he rides fixed, but i ride freewheel. is it from skidding? is it from pedaling the crank arms backwards? (happens a lot to reset the crank arms to the most comfortable stationary position 3 and 9 o clock)
are our crankbolts just stripped? they don't look stripped. are our bottom brackets stripped? how can we tell?

if youre 6'1 you definitely dont need a 58. more like a 55 or 56 My current bike is a 57 and ever since I cut the steerer tube pretty low, I feel like its too small. I would imagine a 58 would feel more comfortable if I were to slam the stem on it.
