This is all true but not everyones body is the same. Some people have better anaerobic fitness than aerobic and vice versa. Plenty of people can go just as far if not further with a harder gear. Your understanding of anaerobic fitness is pretty poor. It has nothing to do with pushing a bigger gear vs. a smaller one. 99.9% of bicycle riding is aerobic. Anaerobic is when your body burns ONLY carbs and is only during the highest of high intensity. Mainly when you're sprinting.

Rabbi... I have a small project and am looking for some tires. What's your take on the FYXATION tires... good, bad, crap?

i started off with 52 17 and then a couple months later i switch it to 52 18 and i enjoyed it more and then a couple months later, i was reading up on spinning so again i switch it to a 52 19, and i hated it i felt slow as fuck. so yeah thats why i still dont get it. Maybe rems theory is right i dont know. if you were spinning the same cadence, then you would be going slower. The goal is to raise your cadence and make it smooth. Jose, do you have a computer on your bike?

when sprinting, youre more likely to be burning your atp stores rather than using glucose (a kind of carb) as fuel. that happens when you do maybe a minute long interval. anything after that could be considered mostly aerobic. but being better anaerobically does have a lot to do with riding style even in a long ride. its not like theres set time when your body switches from purely anaerobic to aerobic haha

Yeah, not really a set zone for it (however, zone 6/7 is usually described as purely anaerobic). I should have said glycogen reserves instead of carbs.

What exactly does a computer do for you?

Tells you what your doing? Gives you something to judge your performance?

I've been thinking about the whole computer thing. What would be a good brand/model computer you would recommend?

The only real answer is garmin edge500. Everything else is just a waste of money.

Rabbi.... Who in town carries these bars, or do I go the online route for buying them.
Soma hwy1. They're the first road drop in 26mm that have a compact bend.
Thanks, SS

Ok, rationalize your answer for me. Why is and edge 500 the only comp to buy? ant+ (for hr/power/cadence/etc), gps w/option of speed sensor (where wheel diameter is determined by gps) for trainer/rollers, can program workouts, maps, lap breakdowns/avgs (pretty important for breakaways, ATMO), programmable display (I really like this for racing and climbing stuff like the loop/potosi), etc. It's all the features/data you get from it.

I would really like to buy some deda pista bars in 42cm if anyone has some for sale. Dear rabbi, I'm in the market for deda pista's aswell but wasn't too sure what the cm's exactly mean. Is it the thickness (no homo) of the bar from where it clamps on the stem or the shoulder width of the bar?

Its the with. If a bar were 42cm around...... well.......... come dude think about it. That's like a fucking basketball.

Wider than a basketball. Haha. I really dislike riding those bars... except on the track.

I think I like it because I have gotten used to it. Also, with my bars as low as they are I feels more stable to be a bit wider maybe? Idk. To each his own. 40cm bars feel hella funny to me. That is what you ride right? I felt to squeezed in the shoulders.

You might have broader shoulders than me, but I like 40 cm because I feel like I'm not so wide in a peloton. Makes me feel safer in crits. Do you have an abnormal arm-torso ratio?
