hai
dont forget to mingle around with your bike at the 5th street school on saturday for oktoberfest.
remind them about the event at the beat on the 29th. races and prizes, food and drink specials, music, art, all fundraising for the bike co-op. tell them to check out thebeatlv.com events page for more info for now.
can we get some sort of twitter or facebok for the co-op going to give them a link?

Seriously makes that face when I squirt him with water on 115 degree days and shove his pockets full of my stuff on long rides.

The issues I foresee is workstations usually secure the bike enough to apply a lager amount of torch from wrenching. In addition the ceiling at the proposed location is tiled so we could use that converted stripper pole particular apparatus

It seems like the last time we attempted to use a similar apparatus with an awkward ceiling we had some difficulty.

i thought the same thing haha but all the reviews dont look too bad actually. and you can make it with 3/4 inch tubing intead of 1/2. but you could just get a used bike stand for pretty cheap too.

dave and craig don't like it. so it doesn't work.
dave, it would work. it wouldn't be a waste of money, because it would work. things you don't like, believe it or not, STILL work. it just means you don't like them.
i don't see what the big deal is anyway, lawyer chris is just trying to find a way to save some money.
but i get where you guys are coming from though. and sorry for trying to voice up. i've really no experience as a professional mechanic, and lawyer chris isn't really in charge of saving us money.
we'll stick to our shit from now on.

damn you guys get your feelings hurt easily. chris, go ahead and build one. i don't think it looks that sturdy, but i'd love to test it in person.

Actually, I would love to have park tools, or whatever other name brand experienced mechanics think we need. I am certainly not throwing my hat into the rink for head mechanic or anything like that. But the fact of the matter is that we have to set our sights high but at the same time be realistic. At the present time we have to focus first on making rent and second on buying tools. If we can find someone to donate a stand, great, if we can find a great deal on a used stand, great, if someone wants to go out and fundraise for a stand great, but at the present time we need to think of what we can do now to make it work until something else comes through.

Sorry, I hope I didn't sound like I was offended, I'm not. The whole reason I posted it was so people could look at it and the design to see whether it could work. I took everyone's comments as their opinion on whether we should do it and nothing more and nothing personal. Obviously it is not a legit stand, no doubt, but would it work and should we do it at least until we can afford something better? If not, there seems to be a consensus among the mechanics plus Dave that we need some sort of stand, so then the question becomes what is the next viable alternative. Is there something different we can build, if not who has ideas on how we can get a stand and who wants to take ownership of working towards getting those ideas to fruition?
