I ride 46/17.
I know Rabbi used to ride 46/16 when he was using a free wheel.
Most people tend to ride 48/ 17 or some 50+ chain ring to 18/19 cog.

i run 52/19 right now but before i rode 48/17 and before that 46/17.
id idealy like to ride 47/17

See, I don't understand why the big chain rings.
But then again, everyone is different and wants to try other things.
I thought about trying 49/17.

ive asked that question over on bikeforums.net and apparently larger cogs/charing = longer chain life ect.
but the reason im running this setup is it was cheaper to buy a cog when converting than a cog/chainring, i hadnt known this until after. but it works out to my advantage.

I had 46/18 on my BK with a freewheel.
Currently 46/17 fixed/free
True confession: haven't rode my fixed gear in a few months since I got the smoothie.

i want to try 47/17 for 72GI. running anything near 80GI on the street is not only stupid but extremely bad for your knees.
