About to place the order for my crankset and cog. Wanna to ask those that commute and ride around town, what's your gear combo? I was thinking 48T crankset and 16cog, or 18cog. I'm not good with ratio numb sorry. Any advice? Thanx

46/16 serves me well, I like where I am, it's a good mid ground.

ideally and better for your knees which is important in the long run is a lower gear inch setup.
i run 52/19 which is about 71, ive ran 48/17 and had knee discomfort here and there, yes i could push it and was fast and i could climb but whats it matter if my knees hurt?
its better the learn how to spin than mash. it will also better youer endurance.

Do guys use eggbeater around town or regular strap pedals?

I don't trust eggbeaters. Most people today are riding clipless pedals compared to clips and straps.
