Attractive track drops suck unless you're on the track. Comfort is king.

assuming it has to do with saddle length being too long ? nothing to do with aesthetics or functionality

Yeah. Team mechanics chop the saddles to comply with the UCI's rule of the saddle being 5mm behind the bb. On road bikes it's usually not a problem, but tt bikes put your riding position far more forward and thus tt specific saddles are usually short-nosed.

My question is why are they still using old model flites on that high end of tt bikes?

Coz comfy as shit. The new flites are a different shape.

I think most of us know why the saddle is cropped, but why is it pron? This on the other hand.......... Marco Pinotti's tt saddle = clean and sexy This is only cool cause Sparticus' balls were on it, and they appear to have fucked it up. This is a shitty chop job but I like Valverde cuz he is hella cute.

Nose of saddle must be 5mm behind the BB. This is not an issue for road bikes. Don't chop your saddle you will look like an idiot. Also none of us have to worry about this as we will never be in a situation where our bikes are checked..... EVER.

too lazy to look it up myself: why is there a rule against saddle length/position? It's for TT bikes. I'm quite sure it's because the further one is over their bb, the more they are using their quadriceps. Quadriceps are a fucking powerhouse of a muscle, and I think UCI doesn't want there to be too much of a advantage there. Also, the further you are over the bb, the more aero you are. UCI doesn't want people to be racing on lightcycles from tron.

The rule stands for road bikes too but the geo does not really allow for that kind of position. It has to do with keeping the testicles behind the bb. Testicles to far forward can cause increased testosterone effectively quadrupling the size of the male sex organ. This enlarged genitalia can then get caught in the bicycles drive train causing catastrophic failure of the rig and the cyclist’s urethra. This swollen organ has also been used in competition as a weapon against other cyclists and to seduce the podium girls into performing degenerative sexual acts outlawed in 86.37% of euro-zone countries (Belgium being a notable exclusion from these “sex safety” laws).
