i went last month, and it was crazy dumb. i never thought i would ever have to commandeer a critical mass, but believe it or not, i actually had to. there was no source of direction, and the only person who actually had an exact "route," wasn't even sure where his destination was, and he ended up bailing anyway. i'd like to have an enjoyable mass this friday, with the young(ish) bicycle community of las vegas.....please?

my 2 cents:
maybe change it up a little bit. by the way it sounds, everyone stopped going altogether. make changes if you think they'd help - location, time, whatever. promote the ride. tell your friends, make fliers to hand out at other rides, give to bike shops, whatever. have a safe route planned out and make it at a reasonable distance with few stops and keep drinking to a minimum. maybe make a map with any stops in case someone gets lost. uh ...... HI ... don't be a meanie poopie pants, promote safety. this sounds dumb but a lot of new people, if they ever come, might not have lights and shit, bring extras if you have any that they can borrow.
I'm dumb for thinking anyone will listen or try anything else to help. I need a drink, like kool-aid or something

And mass should start and end at the same place. Start at UNLV, end at UNLV. Not start at UNLV, end at the Griffin. That shit annoyed me. I just realized I'm going to be racing this Friday, but I would love to get this ride strong again.

Alright, I'm done expecting any of the old lvfixed guys to jumpstart this ride. Many of them are flirting with their thirties and probably think riding their sweet fixxies is dumb. I don't blame them, but I've been to six or seven cm's in the past year and a half, and they were some of the most fun I've had on a bike. This month's cm is over a week away, but lets get a headcount and get as many people out there as possible. Who cares if there's 10 people there, at least we're on our bikes and getting something started again. We've all read the wikipedia article on critical mass about there being "no leaders". Don't lie, I know you have. Blah blah blah, thats bullshit, we all knew the people who led and kept that ride going. I'm not saying I want to be the leader of critical mass, but I think we all have the responsibility, as cyclists in an urban environment, to participate in mass. And ghabe, i'm changing this thread's name so its more conspicuous.

Dave (aka extrasketchy) and i have been plotting out a route.
also, we're contacting local independent restaurants, (most likely Yayo's Tacos),
to give us a CM group discount for buying tacos or something, or at least give free tacos to the winner of a semi-competitive game of footdown.
seeing that Yayo's is literally right across from the student union, we'll probably end mass there.

At least you still have your seat and seat post and bars. Jesus God, some of the bikes around UNLV are gutted.
Glad to see the fliers worked. We look forward to seeing you at Critical Mass, Cody.
