170mm is standard. I wouldn't run a 175 length on my fixed gear Standard meaning very common? What exactly does the length do for me?

I'm about that height. I have 165 on my track bike and 170 on my road. I prefer the feel of the 170 but if you can spin 165 is a good idea cuz less pedal strike. Also Mr. Kam tells me 165 is preferable for track racing..... Guessing your not to worried about that.

Everyone's feedback is to NOT DO IT. Which I have to admit to not really understanding the outrage against it. It was a slightly above average bike manufacturer and this was their bottom line road bike. It is not like I am taking a top of the line vintage irreplaceable road bike and cutting off the braze-ons etc. I think it looks nice, but at the same time I saved all of the components and can always go back if I so choose. I am not doing anything to it that will permanently change it from being a road bike.

I mean, I guess it will look cool. But don't you have another bike?
Those parts are solid enough. I wouldn't like their bullhorns on account of flex. I wouldn't use the crankset because I own SRAM Omniums. Their wheelsets are better than most of the other basic QBP components and I would buy it. Good price on everything, too

those bullhorns suck. they take away a lot of control you get from drops.

i see, but if you're going to get drops, don't get these eighth inch ones. get ones with some drop. like nitto rb021.
