TIMELY WARNING CRIME ALERT
October 24, 2012
In compliance with the “Timely Warning” provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, University Police Services is providing the following notice of an ongoing threat to property on campus:
Between October 15th, 2012 and October 18th, 2012, 15 bicycles were stolen from bike racks across the university campus after they had been secured by use of cable locks. University Police Services recommends that community members use “U” type bicycle locks in lieu of the more common cable locks, as cable locks are easier for thieves to defeat.
If you see any suspicious activity around campus bike racks, especially the cutting of any locks, please contact University Police Services at 702-895-3669 immediately or utilize one of the emergency telephones to contact Police Dispatchers directly. You may also register your bicycle with University Police Services in case it is stolen. Please call 702-895-5739 for more information on how to register your bicycle.
Please forward this notice to your colleagues and post it on appropriate bulletin boards in your area. Should you see any suspicious individuals on campus, please contact UNLV Police Services immediately at 702-895-3669.
