thanks for the comments everyone. the brake was removed for this photo. the foot retention is temporary. yet it is interesting to hear all the assumptions and commentaries. i wasn't sure at first if posting here was a good idea, but now i am. glad to see the local representation of las vegas fixed gear enthusiasts. cheers.

Hey how about next time a new person comes to the board we FUCKING WELCOME THEM instead of insult them? This community is a fucking joke. If that guy walked up to you at an event and he introduced himself to you, would you insult him? Would you berate him after he made an effort to become your friend? Would you make blind assumptions about his personality based on the clothes he wore that day? I'm sorry for being a jerk, but I see these guys at mass all the time, no straps, no brakes, and I don't see people belittling them. Maybe he doesn't know everything about bicycles, or bicycle safety, worst case scenario? He just got into cycling, he's just now learning. How many people who've ridden for more than a year don't have foot retention or a brake? Maybe you guys should just think about the situation before you jump to conclusions. We didn't always know the things we know today, keep that in mind. Also who gives a FUCK about a fashion statement? If he was just in it for looks and he was a lurker why would he apply for membership? Why wouldn't he just read the threads and show up at slow pace rides with a pretty bicycle? Cycling could have started as a fashion statement for him, but it could have become his hobby. Why are you so eager to disregard people who offer you friendship? Sigh, that was so poorly fucking handled. This is the type of indecency I'd rather not be associated with.The relative anonymity granted by using the internet turns great people into total fucking jerks. Edit:  |

Here at LVFG we care about our fellow riders and we worried thats all but it came out in the wrong way . I hope he goes to the rides to met us because were not all trolls and assholes

You're blowing this completely out of proportion. Lvfixed is our home. The reason no one goes around at mass and starts telling people why their setups are so fucked up is because those people can do whatever they want. But once you come onto a forum and start posting your bike, you're willingly opening yourself up to criticism, praise, comment, etc. You don't cry and delete your account when some people are trying to help you with some tough love. You listen to what more experienced people have to say.
Now I'm not saying I have all the answers, and I still get my ass handed to me sometimes as well (Go look on tarck), but I take that advice and use it to my advantage.
And who cares if someone is being a little mean or poking a little fun? You think Nathan actually meant that? What happened to trolling? I thought a lot of people did that here. And who is being a dick here? Because it sounds like you're speaking to me. Go look at the only comment I sent in reply to his picture. I wasn't even mean at all.

To be completely honest I feel that I probably over exaggerated, and I understand exactly where you're coming from craig. I just remember that feeling of exposing yourself to a new group of people and just hoping for acceptance.
Anyway, I didn't mean it to be directed at you, I tried to encompass everything i felt needed addressing but as the image hopefully explains; my jimmies were thoroughly rustled. My emotional state was probably not a great one for writing a well thought out argument.
Sorry for being a dick about it, if that's how I came off.
